Voltmeter
Evenin' gentlemen -
Lately I've been reading a few posts about overheating engines, and judging by the number of responses the posts get, I'm glad to see I'm not the only rider out there who keeps a close eye on his gauges. It's a good practice, not only to watch for trouble, but also to give yourself a clear picture of what "normal operation" looks like. But our bikes come with precious few gauges....
One that I installed on mine - a nice little voltmeter I found here -

would have given me some warning that my stator was dropping dead and might have saved me a $90 tow. I installed it several months ago and mentioned it as part of another post.
But man, I love this thing so much I thought I outta bring it up again as a new post. Installation is easy and it looks like part of the factory cluster. And it's cheap, and so far no problems.

RE: Voltmeter
I have the exact same voltometer... also has a min/max/current temp gauge, a clock, and a battery alarm... I think it has a timer on it too.
I think I got it from some Californian tour company for ~$25.
Ease to mount (velcro)... on a full faired bike it should last a long time. On my unfaired bike I wrapped it in plastic and velcro'ed that on.
Cheers,
woot.
