stator
on a previous post about valve cover gasket someone said it could be the stator pushing ou the valve cover gasket. lately my gauges will flicker and the bike will shutoff but no codes pop up. is it the stator. any help will be appreciated
i would have your battery tested 1st... then check the wiring around your reg/rec and see if anything is burnt yet... all else fails goto the "general tech" section and at the top you will see a sticky on how to diagnose the charging system and you can find out if its your stator or not
^^ wow you got ripped off ! did you take it to a dealer to do the work ?
regulator just unplugs and take off two bolts. the stator you take off the cover, drain out some oil un plug it plug the new one in and as far as the section of wiring goes its snip snip crimp crimp with the new wire. less then an hour to do everything.
taz learn to do the work yourself you will thank me later

sorry didnt mean to come off as a jack *** , now if that included brand new parts from honda plus labor i guess thats not bad but you couldve gotten things for way cheaper and done the work your self but hey live and learn .
I had the problem of the stator overheating and causing the oil to boil or steam and the excess pressure would escape by blowing by the valve cover gasket.....and would usually stall....this would only happen at idle, would start back up.....anyways replaced stator and problem went away, running like a charm now.... got the stator form RMstator.com fom Quebec Canada at around $160 canadian delivered to my door with a 1 year warranty.

if your stator is overheating to the point your blowing the gasket you better check the rest of your components to make sure they aren't either damaged from the stator overheating or the ones causing the damage to the stator.
No problem. The truth hurts some times. And no it was not done by the Honda shop and I think I was screwed. For know on I will make sure that I do the work myself. At least now I know where to go to get some answers.
