I have a 2001 929 thats in pretty good shape. While riding last week, my speedomoter was reading correctly then it just cut to 0 for a second and started working again. My bike did it a few more times later on, now only reads 0 no matter how fast im going. The tach is still working and everything has power, but it wont read the speed anymore. Has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone know where the speed sensor is??

 

I have had a similar problem withmy speedo. Mine was reading random numbers when I was going a constant speed. It would just jump around and do what it wanted. Come to find out when I took my tank off to check the sensor the harness that it plugs into the connector somehow was not fully connected. So the only thing I did was checked the connector and then plugged back in and made sure it clicked when I did andit works fine now. To answer your question on where the sensor is located if you look underneth your tank about where the middle is, it will be sticking straight up out of the case. You can't really miss it.
