Actually, factory specs are 1 3/4" slack. Just lift the chain measure, drop the chain measure difference.

Yours is what it's supposed to look like - MINE'S the one that different. I believe yours is a 2001, if I'm not mistaken. Honda made two different color schemes that year - yours and a black and red version. The yellow wheels look great, but I believe that was done afterwards - I'm considering doing that.
What's throwing you off is the fact that mine's a 2001 also, but the tank is from a 2000. In 2000, the yellow and black version was a "negative" of 2001, the tank being mostly yellow, whereas yours is mostly black. If I can find a profile shot of mine, I'll post it - you'll see what I'm talking about. I'll be totally customizing the paint on mine shortly, anyway.

Also, yes, there is supposed to be a sticker on the left side of the swing arm on the tension adjuster for monitoring chain wear
(stretch).
And I found a few links on mine hanging up, too - had to lube them and loosen them up.

Yeah - Calkidd's looks like the stock paint for that year. Looks great, man.

Are those the yellow rim tapes I see advertized? They look nice, and I was thinking about doing that if I decided not to go full yellow with the wheels.....

Yeah, but I did a crappy job on it. The strips came straight so I had a hell of a time putting them on. But from far you can never tell the stripes are crooked as hell.
