Default Rear Tire Question?

currently im running Dunlop 208's 190/50ZR17 on my 929. I have found a really good deal on a set of 208's 180/50ZR17 (front and Back) for $159.00. What are the pro's and con's of going from a 190 to 180 tire on the back. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean 180/55?

I will not go back to a 190/50 after trying a set of Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa 180/55

Quicker turn in... thats about it.

anybody know if a 200/50ZR17 will fit on a 929? I was wondering not only if it would fit in the swing arm, but the rim too.

cornering will suck with a 200 on there. I have a 190 right now but I really want a 180/55 anybody want to sell one?

Keep in mind that Honda (or any bike co.) sets tire sizes for optimal handling and all around driveability. Its not like a car, where a bigger tire makes for better cornering. Its quite the opposite. A bigger tire might "look cool", and allow you to acclerate faster, but your bike will handle like a fat cow. Tire sizes are set to match the weight distribution of the bike, suspenion, etc. A narrower tire on the back will make a bike feel more respnsive and faster to turn, but then you sacrifice maximum lean angle and contact patch size which means a slight decrease in lateral g's that the bike can handle. You dont get benefiets without giving up something somewhere else. There really isnt a need to mess with tire sizes.

That shoots my idea of going to a 200 on the rear down. Oh well...

It's nice to hear there are some of us who are more interested in how a bike turns than how fast it will accelerate in a stright line or wheelie. It cracks me up to see some hotted up bikes with a bald center line and new on the sides... I would dust ya on a real road speedy guy! I've had a 180 and a 190 on my 929 and in my opinion, the front has more to do with the turn in...
