Default Re-installing Wheels Tips??

Do you guys have any tips about re-installing the wheels (make it easier, or things to watch for)?? I just took mine off for powdercoating for the first time yesterday, and I want to make sure I have everything perfect when I put them back on. All help is appreciated!

OK GUYS! I need an opinion! I think this would be just about right for my bike, but I'm not sure. Let me know if link doesn't work. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK....

Those wheels are sick!

About mounting them - just swap out all your bearings and seals and you'll be straight.

When I do the rear, it's much easier, for me, to sit down and position my knees to be directly under the tire, on both sides of the tire. Makes it so much easier because it's like 4 hands. Easy peasy japanesy.

The front isn't too bad at all, I just use one hand on the bottom to hold it and another to install the axle. Easy peasy japanesy.

Oh... GReASE YOUR AXLES! Also as a weird thing I do, I put thread lock on all steel bolts. I don't use the permanent stuff unless it calls for it, but I do thread lock my axle bolts with Medium threadlock. Overkill? Maybe, but I do it. I use it on fairing-to-body bolts, calipers, fender, gas tank - anything.

Tough call! Could end up looking like candy canes or really cool. I'm 50/50. I have to see them next to the bike.

I'm 50/50 too!! ha ha I thought the same thing about candy canes. If anyone could hit up a quick photoshop job, I would appreciate it A LOT! I can email you a couple pics of the bike. Thanks a lot for the tips too! I will definately threadlock most of the bolts.

OK. Does anyone know how many hours of labor (approxmately) it should run to remove tires (off the bike) from rims and press out bearings?? I had a stealership do it yesterday and I just want to see what everyone else thinks (thought might price might have been high).

Full tire and bearing swap? I would have just paid for the tires to be mounted and balanced, but...

You're looking at around $180 for the bearings, $35-$50 for the tire mount/balance, and probably 2-3 hours of labor at what, $25/hour?

Around $300-$320?

Alright....All I wanted the dealership to do was remove the bearings from the wheels, and remove the tires. They wanted to charge me 2 hours of labor at like $70/hour. I did talk to my mom though who works at a car dealership and has for a long time, and she told me that a couple hours of work on a bearing removing isn't unheard of. So, I guess I don't have anything to whine about....

Okay so wait, did you have the full swap or what? Sounds like you just had them remove rubber and bearings? That can'tbe right... ?

In your first post, we're you asking about removing and installing bearings, as well? If so, I didn't realize. Yeah it's not a tough job if you take your time. If you have all the special tools it doesn't make it easier as it does make it faster. But you can do it with basic tools in maybe 30 minutes for each wheel.

If I have completely misunderstood everything, simply ignore everything. I don't even know where I am right now.
