Default need some info plz

i have a 00 cbr929rr and it's time for a new chain and sprocket and would like to upgrade from my stock parts. I have limited experience in this area and would like some imput. I'm looking at a RK racing chain and sprocket kit which includes a 15/43 sprocket set up and a 2.87 ratio (not sure what that means) and a GB520GXW-108 chain. Any input will be helpful...this a good set up for street riding. Thought it would be better to get a package deal instead of ordering a vortex sprocket and rk chain seperate...thanks.

personally.. i hate RK chains. DID is the way to go, they last twice as long in my own experience. (and if you dont know, a 520 chain is a lot smaller than a stock 530 size chain. which means it will wear out a lot faster)
vortex make the best sprockets (for street riding.)
i dont know of any places off hand that would do a package deal, other than check ebay.. that place usually has some.

(and i might be wrong, but you might need an extra link in your chain. stock gearing is 16/41 if i am not mistaken... you said you are going -1/+2.. so i think you'll need an extra link...maybe..)

I believe the 929 came with a 16/43 if it is true then he is only -1 in front so he does not need to add any links.I would suggest going with the 530 chain, 520 does wear out much faster.

Steel front sprocket, aluminum back sprocket. 520 conversion isn't as bad as many say. Consider a TSUBAKI chain. They are more pricey, but if you do go to the 520 conversion, it will wear equally to that of stock chain/sprocket combo.

By going -1 in the front, you won't loose that many rpms/top speed. It will definitely help with torque in that one higher gear going around corners and can handle up to about a 70mph second gear clutch up. Converting to the 520 will reduce rotational mass but will sacrifice a little longevity on chain life. I had the 520 conversion 15/45 on my old 929 and put down about 6,000 miles and sold it with everything still being in great shape. As long as it's o-ring or better, and it has a high tinsle strenth, you'll be good to go. With the 15/43 no longer chain is needed. You can go -1 in front and upto +3 in rear and won't need a longer chain.

Have fun.
