Default Major 929 Rebuild

Hey guys, gonna be rebuilding the 929 to restore her former glory....and then some. I'm gonna have it torn apart and gone through with a fine tooth comb replacing the components that need replacing while adding a ton of other goodies. Mods already done are Pair valve mod, flapper mod, PCIIIUSB, htev wired open, and D&D slip-on. The plans for the rebuild are as followed:
Port and Polish
Web cams
Adjustable cam gears
Manual cam chain tensioner
J E Forged Pistons
954 Throttle bodies, injectors, and injector wiring harness
New ignition coils
Factory pro shift kit
....along with other somewhat minor mods

Anything else you guys recommend or think I should add to the list while she'll be torn down and built up?

What size pistons are you running? 929, 954, or 980? Are you re-doing your case?

954 75mm pistons maintaining the 12:5:1 compression ratio. 980 would be beast but i've heard somewhere that there was somewhat a limitation on how mouch bore is safetly achievable on a 929.

Should be the same limitations. 954 is bored 929. You will probably have to get the case redone probably anyways. And the 929 has been bored 2 mm oversize before. When you split the cases you will see what your options will be.

I hear ya. I've found some Wiseco 76mm 980cc pistons that I'll go with. 13:5:1 compression ratio along with a spring steel .030" head gasket. Been checking around and heard from quite a few that all should be well.... So here goes, lol.

Questions guys, is 13.5:1 compression too high to spray say a 40 shot of nitrous? I'll be using 93 octane....

A 40 shot is at the upper limit for 13.5:1... I don't know if I'd go with a 40 shot. I've been contemplating spraying my motor too (I'm also running 13.5:1) and from what I've read, a 20 shot is about it on that high of compression. Even with a 20 shot, we'll need to run colder plugs and possibly retard the ignition a few degrees.

I'd worry about a 40 shot if you want that motor to last

Are you wanting to fog the air box? Or use a spray bar?

I though that might be the case. I was planning on going with a spray bar.

Should I even consder spraying since i'm boring out 929 cylinders +2mm plus running 13.5:1 compression? Should I be worried about thin cylinder walls and sealing issues, even with using ARP 2000 studs?

Reason I'm asking is because thoughts have changed from adding a turbo, which obviously I know this compression is way too high for, then started thinking bout a little spray. I want a beefy engine off of any power adder and don't really want to lower compression all that much from the current goals. Stock compression is ok, but the primary cause of this rebuild is for a more stout motor.

Check out the pyschobikes website. They have a ton of nitrous gurus on there. And there are also a few guys running 13.5:1 with nitrous.
