Default Low Fuel Question

Last week on my way to work my low fuel light came on and I thought to myself that I plenty to get to work and back(I live within 5 miles of my place of employment) But then it dawned on me that I have completely nooooooo idea of much gas is left in the tank once that light comes on. I have been going off my past experience with this bike on about how far I can go and that is probably going to leave me stranded on the side of the road one of these days.

So my question is how much gas is left/how far should I be able to ride once the low fuel light come's on?

The only ways to tell are to do the math or run it out and see. figure how much gas is left when you fill it and use your mpg to compute. Make sure to allow that you cant pick up every drop in there.

Th tank is 4.8 gallons. Th next time th light comes on immediately go to fill it up an determine th difference. For example, when my light turns on I go to fill up an usually it needs 3.5 gallons meaning 1.3 gallons is what's in th tank when I'm noticed with "low fuel". I average 40-45 per gallon so I estimate on my bike about 40 miles from when th low fuel indicator turns on. Beats running th bike dry to figure out th final last couple of miles.

Also, to determine your MPG do this. Th next time u fill up reset one of ur trip meters to zero. Then when u go to fill up again divide th miles by th number of gallons u jus put in ur tank. For example, I go to put gas an fill up with 3.5 gallons an see that I have 120 miles on th trip meter. So 120 miles/3.5 gallons=34mpg. An that's actually what I usually get lol. Idk where I got 40-45mpg from lol.

The manual says the reserve is 0.9 gallons.

I was on the highway once and had 30 miles to go, the light came on and I made it.

So I'd say riding economically 25-35 miles when the light comes on.
