Default Lonley newbie needing basic setup advice

I have had a 2001 929rr for about 3 months. Its got about 29k miles, CHM P4-R slip on, GPR steering stabilzer, and a K&N air filter running Mobil 1 1040 full synthetic 4T oil. Its had a new cam chain and tensioner done along with the valves adjusted 3k miles ago. Bike was bought from motohillsboro from one of their own mechanics who weighed only 170 ish.
I am 220 lb riding in the very rough roads of the City Of Portland Oregon.
That being said, this is my current setup.
The front comp set at 1.5 out from full hard , 2 out from full hard on rebound, 4 lines showing for preload.
the rear is 1 turn from full hard on compression, rebound is 2 turns out from full hard. The preload I am stuck at position 4 because I dont have the spanner to change it. Tire pressures are 34 psi front 38 psi rear. (Shinko front and Michelin rear) I also am kinda screwed trying to figure out how to adjust for the proper length for the shift rod from the foot lever to the lever on the trans.
can anyone based on what info I have given provide a better setup suspension wise and also how to properly adjust the clutch rod and free play. And perhaps how the heck to adjust rear preload without the proper 🔧.
Any other advice or things that a newbie should know about their first 929rr would be greatly greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Matt Koller

First thing to do is get some fork springs for your weight, some seals, bushings (if needed), and some new fork oil. After your done rebuilding the front end, set the sag and put some miles on it to break in the springs. You can put the comp and rebound at factory for now. Those are more of a minor adjustment for the road/ride your doing. After a few hundred miles, reset the sag.

for the rear, the factory setting should be fine on the spring if your riding solo. You can play with the dampening as you see fit.

the clutch cable, screw the upper adjuster all the way in. Use the bottom adjustment to take up almost all of the free play.. Then screw out the top adjuster until There is just a little freeplay in the lever. If the top needs to be out a bunch, screw it back in and adjust the bottom a little more and repeat.

thanks for that advice. i didnt even think about the wear and tear on the front fork/shocks.
i did adjust the clutch and the lever is pretty hard with the all the slack taken out. the clutch doesnt start to grab until the very end of letting out the clutch lever. right now i have everything set at stock settings except tire pressure which is 35 front 37 rear. bike seems to be doing well other than im worried i got the clutch cable adjusted to tight since i tightend up the slack at the bottom lever then i went to the handlebar adjustment. also sucks is the clutch lever pin worn meaning the clutch lever has a lot of wiggle. well not a lot but with the pivot pin worn im not sure how to fix it.
