intake/exhaust flapper valves??
I am at a fork in the road...the previous owner cut my intake flapper out, and my solenoid is bad. Do I remove it all and get a new exhaist, or do I put it back togeather? What was the purpose of this system? If I remove it all, how do I trick my computer to get rid of the trouble code?
I am really more concerned about ridability than WOT power.
Thanks, Phillip

I don't know if you can trick the computer to get rid of the fault code. What I would do is buy a new or used solenoid and use it as is.The flapper you do not need as most people remove it or screw it down for maximun air flow.If you go with the full exhaust you still need the solenoid in it.
I don't know a way to bypass the exhaust system FI code, except to buy a new actuator. A buddy of mine embarrassingly admitted clipping the wire from the ECM that signals the FI light to come on and tucked it away for future diagnostics. There is no performance loss from riding it around with the FI light because the default position is fully opened. Just make sure the exhaust valve didn't fail partly closed, as this could cause a problem.
I think I have it fully open. I can turn the solenoid by hand and it does nothing to try and move itself back. I guess it is dead, but it's not stripped out. I heard that's the common issue. WhenI turn mine, I'm turning the electrical motor and all.
If i'm misspelling, I'm not retarded, just drunk. Thanks, Phillip
