Default I was wrong ..

.. about steering dampers on the street. I admit it!

I have just installed a Sprint 916-style damper and what a difference it makes (to me at least). The nervousness at the front is history, which makes a huge difference to my sense of ease. Most of the road around my way are goat tracks -- tight and very bumpy -- and the addition of the damper has made these bends, particularly under brakes, much more liveable.

So, bottom line, this is a top addition to the 929 and a must-have mod.

The people that say you dont need a damper, dont have a damper. Anyone that
has one on a 929 or 954 will tell you its a must. The boost in confidence is worth every cent.

Nah- you're looking at pretty much $300+. Sucks... I've actually been pondering making my own.

Yeah, I'll prolly skip that one.

Being one fo those, I have to agree. They don't 'need' one, and they are a far better bike with one. I really have been surprised at the difference, particularly under brakes and over bumps when heeled over. Confidence, as you say.

I got the "cheapest" one I could find, a Sprint for around $370

Worth it.

I got lucky. I found a Scott's on Craigslist for $220. After putting it on, I would have paid full price. Confidence and safety factor is priceless.
