How do you install a fiberglass tail w/ out damaging paint!?

I have a new tail piece with fresh paint and I cant for the life of me figure out how to install it without damaging my paint. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

My god! i finally got it installed, but I about **** myself. The answer is just bite your lip and hope your paint or the fiberglass doesnt crack as you slowly bend it just enough to clear everything inch by inch.
