just picked up a 2001 cbr 929. everything runs good but when i was riding home on the interstate a red light came on next to my lights light. i belive it has something to do with the fuel injectors, just not what exactly. any help is good help.

question#2-also the speedo on the mike cuts in and out when i start. it stays on for about a quarter mile then its done. everything else on the gauge cluster works good.

 

you need to count how many times that red light blinks. that'll be your error code which you can then use to look up the error code in the manual. the manual, if you don't have one, is a "sticky" at the top of the topic list in this forum. a lot of times the error code will reference a problem with the HTEV/Flapper servo.

as for your speedo issue, i would have to assume it's bum wiring, but it may have to do with the red-light code. everything is computer controlled these days....

 

If that red light was associated with the injectors you'd most likely get the FI warning light as well on the screen. I always get the red light on my bike though. But only when I am low on fuel.

The speedo thing happened to me as well exactly as yours does. At start up it was fine but after a few minutes on the road the speedo would die and nothing till the bike shut down. Turned out to be the speed senser in the transmission. Bought a used one on e-bay for about $8 and fixed it. Took me longer to find the damn thing on the bike than it took to change it!

 

this is labkreationz under my bro's name. the red light only comes on on the highway. and the fi thing does not show. it does not blink so i dont know if its shooting a code. doesn't seem to be a problem so i will leave it alone until ifigure it out.

sorry bro i didnt think it was a code becaus eit was not flashing at all. it just comes on and stays on till the bike turns off. i'll check that out now. thanks
