Several posts have identified the problem with headlights.
Regarding the diagnostic on the headlights out... I checked all of the electronic connection points and they were found functional using a volt meter. The headlight worked when I by-passed using wiring harness connectors. The starter button, kill switch, headlight switch were all found functional.

I know the headlights go out during start and heard about the some kind of relay switch that kills the headlights. feeling under water with hot wires...

 

Did they go out one day when you were starting the bike and never came back on ?? ... I had that problem happen on my CB900F4 and found out it was a problem with a broken wire in my right handlebar switch assembly ...
