Hanger Bolt/Frame Slider

Hanger Bolt/Frame Slider
Yesterday I noticed thatthe frame slider on the right side of my 929 was loose. I can't tighten it down because where it bolts into seems to be stripped and that looks like it is part of the engine. I was looking at the service manual to see if this bolt is some sort of motor mount but it shows it as an "engine hanger" bolt. I am not sure if that means that it is more for engine alignment when you are installing it. I want to be able to leave the frame slider on so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what I should do. I also wanted to know if I would have any problems riding without have that bolt in?

RE: Hanger Bolt/Frame Slider
Hi ..
I just replaced my frames sliders this weekend. Yes, the bolts are engine mount bolts so not having one in may not be such a good idea. I don't know how bad it would be but probably not recommended (some racers slacken frame mounts to get more feel in the chassis, though I am not sure that is appropriate for a road going 929).
My advice would be to get it rethreaded ..

RE: Hanger Bolt/Frame Slider
Again, my suggestion only, would be to get a Helicoil or similar installed.
This is an engine mount, so my personal tendancy would be to keep the stock bolts
which would mean rethreading to the same thread pitch and size. Which is the
purpose of Helicoils.
Not something I would do myself, rather I would take it to a specialist.
If you have a m/c race shop in town, or a car racing tuner...
