Default gp shifting

What do you guys think about going to a gp style shifter? I got a great deal on one but, don't know if I'm ready to put it on. Don't want to kill myself shifting wrong way. Anybody have one and how do you like it?

my buddy did that. you mean shifting down for up and up for down? all he did was turn his shifter around he didnt buy anything. he has an 04 gixxer 1k, he gets lost sometimes and behind at the start

If you have a chance to ride other bikes or will get rid of yours in the next couple years, don't do it. I did it to my GSXR cuz it only took the loosening of one bolt. If you drive other bikes at all, don't do it. I almost shifted very poorly with my buddies bike and I went to test drive my current bike (929), and killed it when coming up to a stop sign cuz I shifted it into 3rd instead of 1st. I'm back to the standard shift pattern now, but that's what happened to me.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! i have it on my 954. It took me about 5 mins to get used to but after that i will never go back to standard shift pattern. Especially at the track, it is a world of difference when you are comming out of a corner and being able to shift without having to move your foot up under the lever.

i agrree 100% with driber. the gp shift pattern on my 929 is awesome. of course it will be awkward for the first 50 miles but after that you wont even think about it. Also makes it great for if someone decided to steal the bike. gives you a few extra seconds to catch up to him with the baseball bat. LOL.. when i took my bike into the service department they didn't know what the hell to do. so they called me and i told them i forgot to mention its reverse shifting. LOL

I have used gp shifting for 15 yrs. It is the only way to go for the track and track days. The 929 is easily changed with the shift lever off of a same year vfr800. Goes on easy and works great.
