Fork tube leaking, why? abuse??
I purchased a nice Erion with 4k miles which I think is correct. Everything is mint on the bike, except the left fork is leaking oil. I was wondering if that is from wheelies and stoppies?? Stupid thing to do with a mint bike and makes me mad thinking about some fool doing that to it, but I don't know. I have gone over it with a fine tooth comb, taking the fairings and plastic off to look at its inerds and they are clean. Any thoughts about the fork leaking and clues to proving actual miles besides all the common ones would be nice.
Also, is there a good place on that rebuilds forks, I'll have both done, and was thinking about having that nitride color finish put on them?? thanks bros

fork seals will just begin to leak over time but premature leaking is a good indication of hard riding, wether that be stunt abuse or even track days etc. i dont stunt my bike at all but not my fork seal on the left (clutch lever side) is leaking. i do mostly twisty riding.

Yea wheelies can make em leak real fast if done poorly. You also have to remember you may only have 4k miles on it, but its still a 8 year old bike. I doubt the oil has ever been changed, or any adjustments ever made. That or excessive dirt / debris on the outside can wear on the seal too as the suspension travels up and down.

yup same on mine the left side was leaking i replaced all the seal in both and swapped in new fluid and it looked like the left seal was starting to get little spider cracks and that was causing the leak it was a very simple job just have to have the right tools
