I just got my 929RR a few weeks ago and thinking about what mods I need to do. The first thing I want is a pipe. That HUGE stock thing is so ugly and makes it sound like a sewing machine.

To start this out I would like to say that my local dealerships are completely worthless. The parts guy tells me they sell like 5 sport bikes a year and he only knows about the brand new ones. Anything over a year or 2 old is "old school" and they know nothing about it. Once they get our money for a new bike they dont want to help us anymore.

My goal for modding this bike is to let it breath a little beter and gain some power. Im not looking for LOTS of noise and would kind of like something on the quiet side. I like to ride and a headache after 20 minutes is not my idea of a fun ride.

Any input you may have about your exhaust would be greatly appreciated!

I have a hindle full system on mine and it is kinda loud but i think it is a good low tone loud. go on to you tube and search 929's with different exhausts and i know the sound isnt the same in real life as it is on the computer but it should give you a good idea.

 

Ive got a full Akropovic system on my 929. I sounds great. If you wanna make some noise you can just cruise in a lower gear. I can cruise all day not have a problem with the noise. Its a nice deep sound. I wouldnt trade it for anything

 

Full Arata system here also. Amazing sound and great performance improvement (once it's tuned).

I've also had and ART and Micron slip-on in the past too though. Both sounded good. The Micron was a little bit deeper in tone.

Ive been looking at the Akropovic. I think thats what Im gonna go with. So far everyone Ive talked to that has one likes it. I understand that its gonna get louder and lots of these pipes sound sweet, but some are just stupid loud and thats what Im trying to avoid.

 

yeah Akropovic systems are real nice, they give a good increase in power and they sound awsome. i have a Akropovic system on my 05 zx6r and it sounds good and looks good too.

 

I have a Micron slip on and it sounds good, but the more I ride, the better it sounds. The tone gets deeper and throaty. I really like the sound and the look. I added a BMC air filter instead of the k&n to increase the HP. The k&n filter showed a loss in HP during dyno testing. The BMC showed an increase.

 

I have the Erion bolt on and I've done the flapper and pair mod.... Sounds great and really woke it up with the flapper and pair mod. My buddy has a SCORPION bolt on and no other mods and sounds really good.
