CBR929RR Fuel Line routing issue

CBR929RR Fuel Line routing issue
Having a bit of an issue with my fuel line on the 929. I recently replaced the fuel line with the replacement line from a recall back in 2000. It was never done my bike so I replaced the existing line.
The problem I'm having is that the new line is like twice the length and the end that goes onto the tank (fuel pump) side has a much sharper bend than the old one. So when I install it, there's a noticeable kink. The issue with the shorter one earlier was that it had very little room to move when the tank was lifted so it stressed the crimped ends and split. Now I don't want to pressurise the link with a kink in it and have the exact same result.
I double checked the part number and looked up the parts diagram to ensure I do have the right fuel line: 17529-MCJ-010 and it seems right. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes it can form a loop somewhat.
Right now I have it so that the line forms a U shape from the tank to the fuel rail. Not too happy with this.
Can you tell me what the part number is meant to be for a 2000 Honda CBR929RR? I am very confused as there is a myriad of these parts with slightly different suffixes and they all look slightly different:
https://www.cmsnl.com/products/17529.../#.Wefw5luCz4Y
If you look at the images in the "Alternatives" box there is one with number 17529-MCJ-305IT which looks exactly like my old line and that was the recalled line which was too short. The 17529-MCJ-305DE is longer and could be similar to the one I have now 17529-MCJ-010
The biggest difference in my old line and new is that weird U shaped protrusion on the banjo fitting which goes to the tank side. What the hell is that? It's on both the -305 and -010 parts.
Right now I fitted it so that it orientates away from the crevice that is provided on the pump assembly to fit the fuel line in between. It won't fit into the crevice directly.
Another view of the -305 part

I just ran my VIN number on CMSNL and also on an Australian parts website and they both confirm I have indeed the correct fuel line part for my bike as mine's an Australian model:
https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cbr900rr.../#.Wefz_VuCz4Y
Still doesn't explain the routing.
Do you have a picture of how it looks on yours, or maybe describe it?

Mine looks like the diagram, which looks nothing like the hose pictured. Even the diagram looks nothing like the hose pictured.
Should be 17529-MCJ-010, I don't think there is a difference for that line based on national market.

Some later models used a hose with a right angle fitting, ON THE FUEL RAIL SIDE. Perhaps you are trying to fit it backwards?

Hmm well, the diagram might have been done for the time when the original recalled line was designed.
I am sure I am not fitting it backwards, the banjo end for the fuel rail has a distinctive lug which is meant to act as a stop against the lug on the rail side. Both the original line and the new one still have the same lug.
How long is your line? The original line was roughly 8 - 10 inches. The new line is probably 14 - 16 inches. Not sure of the exact lengths, but noticeably longer, like twice.

I cannot say for 100% certainty what the number of the old line was, but during my reading I am inclined to believe the line is -305. If you look up this part number on some websites it gives a notice saying it's an obsolete part or something to the effect of that this is now a non-conforming part.
As for the recall, it was issued in 2000 for all countries. Here is the recall for Australia, keep in mind that 929RR is marketed as 900RR in Europe and Australia.

NHTSA Campaign Number: 00V257000
Manufacturer AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.
Components FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
Potential Number of Units Affected 6,209
Summary
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. AN IMPROPER SERVICE PROCEDURE THAT MAY BE USED DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE CAN DAMAGE A PRESSURIZED FUEL HOSE. LIFTING THE FRONT OF THE FUEL TANK BEYOND A CERTAIN POINT CAN STRESS AND DAMAGE THE HOSE. THE INTERNALLY DAMAGED HOSE COULD EVENTUALLY CRACK, RESULTING IN A HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL LEAK.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL HOSE WITH A LONGER FUEL HOSE.
Notes
OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING LATE SEPTEMBER 2000.
