CBR929RR 2001 Servo error 35 Fix
Hi everybody,
Hope you're all well.
I just bought a CBR929RR and ofcourse on the way home the FI light and the error 35 showed up.
I bought a Servobuddy to fix this.
When i receive it i will make a tutorial/description here with pictures so folks with the same problem can use it to fix theirs.
Furthermore, i will also add a usb charger and a quad lock wireless phone charger.
I just have 2 questions for you fine folks.
1. What is the best manner to fixate the exhaust servo in a certain position?
2. In what position should It be fixated?
I hear that the half open position is great for power below 8000 rpm and the fully open position for above.
The fully position will result in power loss in the low rpms and can make idle problems, correct?
But i recon, now the servo is broken, I already lost al low end power.
I am looking forward hearing from you.
For all who will reply, many thanks in advance!

Hi All,
To help anyone with the broken servo motor I have got some information.
At this moment I got an servobuddy on the CBR929RR 2001. It does work. The red light and the FI token disappear.
I did not disconnect the servomotor or cables to the exhaust valve. I think I might have lost some power because the valve aint in the right position.
That is why i decided to replace the servomotor, as one of the fine gentlemen on this forum suggested.
I was hesitant at first because I did not trust the secondhand servo's to work or last. I figured if they al break, second hand ones will brake as well.
But then I found some threath about a feller that installed a CBR1000RR 2004 Servomotor on the CBR929RR.
That caught my attention, because I got more trust in the 2004 servo. I figure it is newer and Honda might have made some changes on them internally. (maybe somebody here can elaborate on this?)
Therefore, I bought 2 Servo motors. One for the CBR929RR (No gold colour attachment) and one for the CBR1000RR.( Does have the gold colour atachment).
Judging from the outside of the Servo, they are exact copies!
The only difference I can see is the Golden attachment on the CBR1000RR version.
If you remove this they are 100% the same on the outside.
I do not know if the inside is the same.
I wanted to instal one of them, but i had one fairing bolt go bad. I had to borrow some equipment to get it out (see photo).
Now i got it out, I will instal the servo soon. Not sure yet if i will use the CBR929RR Original or the CBR1000RR one.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
When I will install one of them I promise to make some Photos/Videos for y'all fine poeple.
Hopefully you can use them for refference if you encounter the same problem.
Have a nice evening everybody!
Cheers, Leeroy

I think my firs instinct would be to use the original 929RR one. It is easy enough to simply plug it in without installing it to see if it moves properly. If it does, then install it. If it doesn't, then on to the 1000RR unit.
Hi partners,
The servomotor on my bike was Upsidedown!! Somebody had been fooling around with it I gues.
I tested my CBR1000RR 2004 servomotor and the CBR929RR 2001 Servomotor.
Only the CBR1000RR servo worked. thats why I used that one.

This servo is upsidedown
The metal part should be facing down

Old servo 2
Old servo 3
New servo upsidedown, I changed it after this pic

Hi All,
Damn, this valve has seen more action than a hooker on nickelnight!
It was totally stuck and I could move it around.
I cleaned it with chain cleaner and a spunge.
After that it was smooth again.
I Attached the wires from the servo.
Had to figure out the correct way.
After that i turned the key and the servo motor moved the valve to the 90 degrees position.
It should do this. After that i adjusted the cables a bit so there would be no play.
I started the engine and brought it to 3000RPM and 8000RPM like the service manual mentioned.
It worked exactly like it supposed to!
I took it for a ride and damn! It runs so much better than with the servo buddy!
Really guys, throw that thing away and get a working servomotor!
Cheers.

Hi fellers,
I opened the old broken servo up.
You can see the teeth missing from the gears.
It did not do anything anymore.
Also even the metal (Grey) part that holds the cables was cracked...
I am very happy with the CBR1000RR 2004 version I used.
Feels like a new bike!
Really, this is way better than the servobuddy.
Cheers,

Hi all,
This will be my last update on the servo change.
The CBR1000RR 2004 Servo works perfect!
If you ever encounter the same problem i recommend this solve.
I had the servobuddy and tried it with the valve in open and in semi open position.
Both dont even come close to a servo replacement.
I wish all who will replace their servo good luck!
