CBR 929 all gunked up, I need some advice.
I just got back from a tour in Iraq and my 929 has been sitting for about 18 months without even being started. After I replaced the battery, it ran, but not good. It sounded a little choppy and eventually got worse. My throttle response got really slow and now it won't even start. I put a little fuel additive in while it was still running and it didn't help at all. I've got some new spark plugs, but no wrench to install them (I discovered that I need a special wrench). I'll be tracking down a spark plug wrench, but does anyone know anything else I can do in the meantime?
Thanks

here's a link for another post on changing plugs. https://cbrforum.com/m_26897/tm.htm i can't offer advice on the subject. i heard that it was a pain in the butt to change the plugs so i had my dealer do it along with some other stuff.

I changed my plugs from the top instead of going behind the radiator. I had to use a spark plug socket, 4" extension, universal joint, and another 6" extension. I was able to get around the crossbar pretty easy. Aside from the pain of removing the fuel tank and air intake, it wasn't too bad.
As for the bike, changing the plugs definitely worked. It ran really weird for about 10 or 20 seconds, then smoothed out. When it smoothed out, I had the warning light come on for the fuel injectors (the "FI" on the display). I'm not sure what's up with that.
If you guys have any advice for this, I'd appreciate it!

your computer probably adjusted the fuel injection for the bad plugs. when you installed the new plugs, your fuel injection needs were way off and probably tripped a sensor. this triggered the warning light. i would let it run a little and see if your computer re-compensates back to normal fuel injection settings and the light goes off. if not, take it to a dealer and have them hook up a diagnostics reader and see what codes that it is throwing off for. it might just need to be reset. i have no idea if i am right, but i have run into similar problems on a truck that i used to own.
