Buying a 929rr, what to look for???
Hi I'm new to this forum. I'm a Porsche guy, but have always wanted a sportbike. I've always leaned towards Honda because I ride a cr125cc dirt bike and have never had any problems with it and it's easy to work on. But anyways I've found a 2000 929RR that I'm looking to buy and was wondering what exactly to check for on a streetbike when buying one. As I said it's a 2000 with 14,xxx miles, jardine exhaust, power commander III, mirrorwindscreen, and new tires. The guys wants $4k. It also has a cracked tail section and a small crack on on of the fairings. Is that a fair deal? What would it cost to replace the tail section? Thanks

look to see if the frontshocks are leaking or leakd in the pass, with eye just go over the front welding on the neck - make sure it looks stock
check the calipers to see if they are loose and if the rotors are cracked(hair line cracks) sit on the bike and make sure handle bars and tire are straight and not off set to any side - good luck

The word on the street is that the motors are pretty bulletproof so just checking for the usual service history, oil leaks et al is good.
Check for obvious drop damage, that might indicate that there is more to check for (like alignment etc)
Check the disk rotors for scoring
The gear boxes are also strong though there are a few reports of gear selectors (look for hard shifting into 2nd)
Aside from that, these are wonderful, wonderful bikes. You won't find a better sports bike choice for an experienced beginner.
