Default Bogging downlow

hey guys im new here and my 00 929 is my first bike. but when i bought my bike they told me it needed to be tuned (it has a power commander, but its very old it seems, it has one of those old computer jacks on the top) it bogs in like first and second gear if i dont give it alot of throttle. i dont know what all the bike has but i know it does have a full yoshi exhaust.

anyway just wondering if anyone had a custom map or something that i can program into it , or a way to hook my power commander to a comp. im also going to do a straight pipe on my bike, which i cant do because it bogs even more with the pipe off.

ANY HELP would be much appreciated
THANKS GUYS

1st off i wouldnt check the fuel settings on the pc2.. and see where exactly they are set .. if you hold down all three buttons then turn the ignition to the on position then let go of the buttons it will allow you to see/change rich/lean setting in the different rpm band.. ive seen on alot of bikes with pc already installed that didnt get a dyno tune they will just max rich in all rpm

now ar eyou sure it has a full yohsi exhaust or is it just a slip on ? these bikes came factory with titanium header so its easy to mistake the stock header for an aftermarket one. and if all else fails and you cant get it tuned yet then take off the Pc and your bike will return to the stock map

Hi ..

I just installed a PCII (old, serial interface) into my '01 and it runs beautifully.

To connect it, assuming you have a modern laptop without a serial port, go down to the local computer store and buy yourself a USD-Serial cable (about $30). When you first plug it into your computer it will install the drivers (or you load them from the CD).

Download the Power Commander driver software (see link below). Find out what serial port the USB is mapped to, then set that port in the driver software, load the map you want (there is a button on the right hand side), connect the PC2 via the cable to your laptop, power the bike up (incl putting the kill switch into run), make sure that you have connection to the PC2 from the driver software, and then download your map.

Easy ;-)

i was told it was a full when i bought it but im not positive any way to figure it out ?, thanks alot for all the help, the only thing i could think to do was what mark said and try to connect it to my laptop and go from there, but i wasnt sure if they had a cable to transfer it.

also if i decide to take off the pipe and straight pipe it, is there a map i can find for that or will i have to play around with it and figure it out on my own.

its not worth it to straight pipe it bro .. you will lose way more then you think you will gain.. not to mention you will need a custom dyno tuned map..

so in response to your bogging question just take off the PC and see if it still does it.. if it does then you have other issues with your bike. if it doesnt then send the money and get it professionaly tuned. or you can try the freedownload maps from powercommanders website , its worth a shot but id make sure your bike is fine 1st and not assume its the pc

Another thought: Have you checked the air and fuel filters? You mentioned bogging in 1st and 2nd. If it was FI related it would probably be down to throttle opening, like 1/4 throttle or something, I would think.
