Bogging Down

Bogging Down
My 2001 929 has been sitting since December (for winter storage) since I purchased it. The bike was probably sitting since October or November before I purchased due to cold northeast weather. Anyway w/in the last 3 weeks we've had 2 warm days which I went for a little ride and noticed that the bike runs strong up to about 5000-5500 rpm then it bogs down and kinda sputters like its missing, holding the bike back. When its bogging down the bike feels like it really wants to go, the power is there and it does seem to come out of the bogging if you rev it higher, but its just not smooth acceleration. I'm wondering if b/c the bike has been sitting so long maybe it just needs to be ridden for awhile for the computer to adjust itself. It also has some stabilizer in the tank since its been stored for winter so I dunno if the stabilizer is causing the hesitation. Bike only has 5,500 miles and as far as I know from previous owner it had a tune up not long ago. Bike is stock w/ an Erion pipe. Any suggestions?? Thanks...

RE: Bogging Down
Sounds like a dirty fuel system. It may work itsself out if its not to bad to ride, but best bet is to drain the tank, andclean the lines and injectors. At least thats what worked with carbed bikes, this is my first FI bike so might be a little different. You might want to try a bottle of fuel injector cleaner before tearing it apart (check with someone to make sure they are safe for our bikes I AM NOT SURE) that'susually the first thingto try with a car anyway.
