Default big tire upgrage

I was cleaning the 929 today since it was nice out around the mid 70's. My rear tire is running low on thread and I will be replacing it next spring. what is the largest tire that we can put on it without any modifications. I want to go with a larger tire for looks and I'm not too concerned with decrease performance during leans/turns. Besides, if I don't like it I can always change the tire.

Not sure on width, but to run a 190/55/17, I had to add an extra link (pair) to get the tire back far enough to not hit the swing arm. Width wise couldn't tell ya. Stock is 190/50/17 btw.

with the 200/50/17 tire did you run into any clearance issues? was there any more room to spare for a bigger tire? I've always liked the idea of a fat tire and I want to give it a try.

i run a 200/50/17dunlop d207 on mine. ...can ya got bigger...no. clearance issues, no. thw wider you go the wider a rim you should have...if not you distort the profile of the tire badly.

i havent noticed turning issues. it turns better then my modded fzr600 with a r6 rear swap on the back. i wont be going back to 200 after this one...i scored it new and free with the bike when i bought it. 190 will prob work better but i'm no racer, just a street rider.

if you want a really wide tire then buy the kit, after ya ride the twisities then you with somthing way to wide...like them dumb 330 kits you'll realize its a total waise of money. buy a 200 and be done with it...but they are not cheap...$250..luckly i buy all my tires some a place super cheap

can you point me in the right direction from where I can buy a big tire kit???I have searched online and I can't seem to find a particular company that supports the 929.

that's a nice looking bike. unfortunately I will not be able to spend that kind of money on my bike at the moment, but who knows I might win the lottery

I'll definetely give the 200/50/17 tire a go in the spring for starters. maybe someday I'll be able to do a similar mod to my bike like in the these pics.
