Well it's almost time to ride again, I haven't taken my brakes off, but they'll probably will need to be replaced. I've been unhappy with my front brakes ever since I bought the 929 last year, the front brakes were so muchy, I think it's a bad master cyl. I've bled the system and it's about the same. So I am going to order used master cyl, not sure if it's worth getting aftermarket brake hoses or not, and there are too many brake pad options, which brand and what kind to get? I have stock rotors, and not planning on racing the bike, just street riding, so I need something that will brake better than stock, and will last for a while.

 

Most sportbikes, ours included, come stock with HH type pads. They're the most aggressive non-track pad you can get. Meaning they brake well without having to be at a minimum temperature like a track pad does. As long as your rotors are not purple everything down there should be fine. If you have the budget upgrade to braided stainless front lines when you replace the master.

 

i know you said you bled the brakes, but have you flushed and replaced the fluid? that stuff is hygroscopic (absorbs water from the air) and breaks down in sunlight (front reservoir is almost clear and always in the sun). I would definitely go that route before throwing parts at it. next i would check the flex lines, make sure you don't have a bulge in it. after that, go parts crazy

 

I bled the brakes and put new fluid, hoses looked fine too, but I haven't taken the calipers off yet, but I am pretty sure it's master. Btw, what's the cheapest place to get some oem brakes?

 

i like bikebandit.com for OEM parts, motorcycleproshop.com has good prices but the navigating the website kinda sucks, and as always ebay. don't forget to see what parts are interchangeable btwn the 929 and 954 (et. all). sometimes the parts are the same thing, but different prices depending on the bike.

 

yup, brake fluid is alway over looked....I change mine every season!! and as for Pads its pretty hard to beat the OEM's aftermarkets never last as long are seem to get the bit as the OEM's do!
