Adjusting the suspension to your weight
im a bigger guy about 6'1" 230 and everywhere is sayin if you want to get a good ride out of your 929 you need to adjust the suspension for your weight how in the hell do i do that any hints or suggestions or should i just say screw it!
Basically you nd to setfront and rearsag. I know that stock 929s are very soft and being over 200lbs makes forpoor ride.
Start with the rear, look under the bike and You will seeholding the top of the spring two round disks with teeth on them.(poor mans way) take a flat head screwdriver and hammer and knock the top disk loose so it will spin freely, then You can knock the lower disk tighter, this will increase preload pressure on the spring and counter Your weight...
The question is, howmuch should You turn in the preload.
With a friend helping, hold the bike with nobody on it andmeasurefrom theswing arm (center of the rear tire) up to a solidmarker on the tail. Then with Your friend measuring, sit on the bike while balancing the bike (hand on wall) and measure again from the same spots. For the street I would aim for 2 inches of sag. If itsbetween 1 1/2 to 2 leave it. If its over 2 add some pre load. You basically do the same thing for the front, the pre load adjuster is on the top of Your forks, I hope this helps...
