929rr starting problems
I think its the stator but I'm not sure, i rode it to work everything was fine, left work it started fine i noticed the turn signals not working then got off looked at the fuses everything fine, then I noticed the headlight was barely lit, and the brights don't work, speedo doesnt light up but the tach does, and now it doesn't even want to start, any help would be appreciated thanks

Voltage Regulator may have gone, not charging the battery and it will run off the battery until the voltage gets too low then you get all kinds of strange behavior from the gauges and stuff.. then eventually the ignition will cut out as its fighting for power with the fuel pump, headlight and so on.
Charge the batt. start the bike. put a voltmeter on the battery and watch the voltage, if its going down, its not being charged.. Refer to FSM for charging circuit details.
but since it uses a permanent magnet alternator i would bet its the Regulator thats toast! Its located on the subframe under the tail fairing on the left side of the bike!!

The charging systems on these bikes seem notorious for failing. Most likely it will be the voltage rectifier/regulator like johnnycrash said but it could be the stator. There are tests you can do to check both parts, they are listed in the shop manual but I would physically look at the r/r first. The underside of mine was all burnt and noticeably bad when it failed. I heard a good tip to not get a used on on Ebay and to just buy new because they are so famous for failing that it isn't worth the risk of it only lasting a short while before also taking a poop. It sucks and is a little expensive, but replacing the r/r is a quick easy job that only takes a few minutes.
Check the connector first. It's white and has the three yellow wires from the stator in it. Mine melted a long time ago because it was corroded and had a little resistance in it. I also had one wire corrode and break off. That one wire charges the battery while the other run the electronics. It ran like a top off a jump start, but just wouldn't charge until I spliced the connector.
