929RR Starting Issue
Ok, so im usually really good with these things but this has me completely stumped...the other day I was out on my bike and everything was fine. I get home, turn the bike off, open the tail to get my stuff out, then went to start it back up to pull it in the garage when it would just crank. I had my ipod on at first so I took it off to notice my fuel pump wasnt turning on. Heres where things get tricky...The pump is fine...If you jump it, itll turn on and flow. I checked all the relays and replaced them, all the fuses, etc. In the book, it says it could be a "faulty" ecu...I changed it out with a spare I have...Same thing...nothing...Then I noticed something really weird..when I jump the service connector, I get nothing...Usually my exhaust servo would move but it wasnt doing anything. I decided to test some wires and all the leads to the relays are good but im not getting power to the exhaust servo and the fuel pump. Also, when I jumped the pump, it still wouldnt start either. Since it all seemed electrical, I decided to try a different wire harness and it was the same situation as before. This problem has me going crazy. Yeah its a stunt bike (if you couldnt figure that one out with all the spare parts) but this bike hasnt given me 1 single problem in the 2 years that ive had it. I dont want to have to retire this bike either. Anyone have any clues? Also, I dont think its the battery because I used it my other bike with no issues at all.
Trace all the wires and make sure you didn't miss a ground wire or something simple like that. If it is the battery it may crank but since its fuel injected the pump relies on the battery for immediate power and if thats drained it won't allow the bike to fire at all.
Thanks, ill check that out. Ive tested alot of the grounds and all looked good. Im gonna try opening up that junction box thats burried in the harness that combines alot of the ground and 12v signals and see if theres anything wrong in there.
