929 stalled
Hey, all. I'm sure this is probably nothing, but maybe one of you has seen this happen.
My 929 is in storage in my shed for the winter. After not running it for about 4 weeks, I went out to start it up and get it up to temp, just to keep the moths out of it. It was about 45 degrees out. I charged the battery, and then started the bike. On the third try, off she went, and sounded fine. As it warmed up, the fast idle came down like it should and all was well.
I revved it a few times. Then for whatever idiotic reason, I revved it on up through 8000 rpm or so for a second, and let the throttle go. It returned to idle and immediately stalled.
On three attempts to restart, it would fire off and then stall. I finally got it running by cracking the throttle and holding it at about 2000 rpm. After that, I was able to release the throttle and it idled and ran fine.
So what happened? After being stored for that length of time, could the HTEV have gotten stuck in an intermediate position when I ran through 7000? Can the engine idle if the airbox flapper got stuck wide open, as it would be above 7000? Maybe the servo motor that actuates them was binding?
Do I EVER SHUT UP?????
Oh well, I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.
