Default Stalled once again...

Well as you guys might know my bike has been having a stalling issue, well I cleaned the carbs up and the past couple days it has ran so much better and didn't stall once. Today I was out riding and I was just crusing around and I could just tell it was lacking power as if it was getting clogged up somewhere, while I was coming up to a stop light it stalled on me but started right back up (had to apply the choke tho) I had about a 10-15 minute ride from home and it was acting just fine after it stalled... I still need a fuel pump and once I get that I want to replace the air filter and fuel filter... This stalling is getting really annoying...

Will I have to re-jet the carbs after installing a fuel pump??... sense my bike doesn't have one for some reason...

do you have water in the tank? Sounds like maybe when you cleaned the carbs, you removed the water from the carbs and it ran ok. Water in the tank will eventually get back into the float bowls and cause all sorts of issues. It pools up under your main jet and interfears with gas flow.

You shouldn't have to rejet.

You also may want to check the fuel tank vent. Next time it stalls, imediately, put your ear close to the tank filler cap, open it, and listen to see if you can hear any air rushing in. If it does, your vent line is plugged or kinked.

Having said that. Since your bike doesn't have the fuel pump. I'm going to guess someone before you removed it for probably the same stalling issue your having.

If I were you, I'd pull the petcock off, check the screen and make sure its not plugged,(it probably is), and flush the tank. You probably have water in the tank.

Sorry if any of this has already been mentioned before. Just giving my opinion.

I'm not sure if I have water in the tank... but after class today I took a short ride and it stalled again and I opened the cap and no whistle sound.. but I'm going to go check the petcock screen like you suggested... the bikes almost not even worth taken out anymore being so worried that it might die at every stop lol

Yeah, certainly makes you think twice about going any where if it's stopping all the time.Had a couple of bikes that did that & its frustrating when its your only means of transport.
Personally I reckon its your fuel pump (or lack of), its a pressurised system & the fuel pump is designed for it. Could also be that it was removed by the previous owner as they didn't want to spend the $'s on a new one. There is only one way your going to find out if this is your problem.
