Default f2 stalled

so I was going to work this morning when alll of a sudden i noticed a loss of torque on the motorcycle, I tried to give it gas but it died, I tried to start it back up and it wouldnt start at all, I went to the nearest gas station and filled the tank up( I still had a little more of 1/4 of gas), Like magic it started again...any idea of what could be causing the problem?

you either 1. didnt have it on reserve or 2. your petcock inside the tank is plugged at the reserve level.

Petcock fail or some related vacuum issue. After a few minutes sitting the fuel bowls will fill back up.

Possibly a plugged vent line too. Bowls shouldn't be filling up with the motor not running - no vacuum = no flow thru the petcock.

Our tanks also look like they have more in them than they really do. Every time I run the bike til it starts missing, and then flip it to reserve and get to a gas station. At the station I look in the tank and think that it seems like there's plenty of gas in the bottom of the tank, but then I fill it up with 3.6-3.8 gallons of gas, so I know I was actually just about empty.
