Default 929 problem

I rebuild this engine in my 929 rr, 954 engine, and there's some noise between 3000 and 5000 rpms, also when decelerate, sound is there

Cct looks good, what else can be a problem? Clutch basket is little noisy on idle but doubt that she is the problem

Hi Trifke954,

Sounds like a chain to me.

How is the tension?

Maybe you can hold the chain while rev'ing to see if the sound stays?

Has the 954 engine been overhauled?

Cheers,

Leeroy

Engine was sleeved and reassembled, how do you think to hold chain? Cct working but maybe is spring lost tension and cct cant extract all the way out
Also i try to find out with screwdriver on my ear, source of noise, and it is a pretty damn loud on right side engine, where chain was located, i have diy manual tensioner, just need time to replace it, and see if there is a difference

Nope, engine started without clutch plates and noise is still there, so i inspect cam chain, it's a bit strange, left side of chain where cct goes is tight, but other side is a bit lose 🤔

Interesting, thanks for the follow up. How did you determine that the chain was stretched? Did you lay it side by side with a new one? How much different were they?

I saw it when i removed cct, it was extracted all the way and there was no resistance when i removed bolts, like it should be
