No programming needed. Just get a good quality part. It must have the correct diode in it, or it the bike will not start.

Replacement is the same, but I'm not sure about programming. I didn't realize you were in the UK and have the HISS system. Our bikes in the US didn't come with that, so I've never played with the system. I'll see what I can find out...

whoops, looks like i'm a lil late to the party....
from a little searching - it seems that you'll need the ECM, lockset, and HISS all from the same bike.....
it'd probably be easier to take your ignition to a locksmith and have them fix the problem.... they can take your ignition apart and replace/repair what's loose (even with it being electrical). they are many electrical locks and what not these days.
you'll have to drill out the screws that hold it in place from the top tree though....
some (other people on other forums) said honda dealers do offer that kind of service - but it'd cost $1500 to replace the whole thing

I searched too and came up with a result of replacing the entire system.
I'm not sure how exactly the system works, but what you're after is the electrical part of the switch. That's the part that's failing, not necessarily the key and tumbler part. If the electrical part can be had separately, and the HISS system only matches the key/ecm, you may get away with not doing the entire system. But I can't seem to find any info on the system to be sure.

The transponder reads a magnetic signal from the key so it would not matter if the key is loose as it does not need to touch.
I would check the wiring to the hiss that is around the key
It sounds like a bad earth I will have a look and see what I can find on the bottom of the hiss as I have a spare ecu/transponder and all the other ****
