Default 929 and 954 parts

i know there was a tread about this but i wasnt sure. Are parts from the 954 interchangeable with the 929? like if i bought a 954 headlight could i put it in my 929 with just the headlight or do i have to buy stuff? and is the tailight interchangeable

You'd need all the front fairings to do the headlight, so its a tough job and lots of $$$. The rear subframe is different, so the plastics wouldn't line up (as far as I know[>:]) at the rear, so the taillight is definitely not going to fit. There is an aftermarket LED taillight for the 929, or you could fab your own.

most parts will bolt on. I'm going to be swapping a 954 swingarm onto my 929 soon (got the parts, just don't want the downtime...), shock, rearsets, passenger pegs (954 is slightly farther back, but lines up fine),etc.

anybody know exactly what is needed in a swingarm conversion using the unit prolink swingarm off a 954 and up? and also, roughly how much is needed in the budget? also, what benefits can be achieved?

The passenger pegs on the two bikes will work but you'll have to modify (cut-n-weld) the right one to hold up your exhaust. There's about an inch difference.

what extra parts did u need to get other than the swingarm itself? is the swap worth its weight in coin?

Look at Sirkbac's old site:

he did the swap.

thanks for the reference. although the newer swingarm is significantly more atttractive, i would have hoped for a greater technological benfit. still, if one is bothered enough to improve minor components such as anodized fooot pegs, then the swingarm conversion is understandable. anyone know roughly how much a 954 swingarm could be sourced from?

Seems like alot of time, effort, and more importantly money, for an upgrade thats for the most part purely aesthetic. There are probably much better ways to spend money on your bike. From a technological standpoint, what can you really expect from a swingarm with a slightly different shape? You would reap some benefiet if you went with an aftermarket shock, at least that would make a difference in handling, ride and performance. But a swingarm from a 954 wont make any difference other than it looks better.
