I have a 2001 929. first thing I noticed was the speedometer was not working intermittently. A few days later the red light on the instrument cluster turned "ON" and displayed an "F1" or "FI". I then checked for a code. I recieved " 1 long blink and 1 short blink ". From what I found this had something to do with the speedometer. So I was not concerned and continued to ride it. This morning when I accelerated from a stop on to the freeway in first gear, the bike began to sputter and cut out. Then I racked my "nuts" on the tank. I was able to restart it and ride home. (a couple miles) Any ideas?

 

Sup streetfight. Ok. Check the connecter on the back of the speedo do a wiggle test with the harness and see if it acts up as far as your drivability problem. Do you have a powercomander hooked up ? Check all your electrical connections Do you have a work shop manual ? If you don't. Get one ASAP ! I know when I tryed runing my power Comander. With the o2 sensor hooked up my bike started to would cut out and would not go past a certain rpm. The ecu was fighting the power Comander strategies for the fuel trims

 

No power commander installed. I will check connections. I have a shop manual. Thanks

 

I'm not familiar with th codes but have u checked that ur htev is working properly. I have ran my bike without a cluster an no problems. How did it run back to th house after th initial stall?

 

It seemed to run ok. However, I did not exceed 30 mph. What is the htev? I was thinking the ignition may be having problems.
