My 929 came to me with some race take offs. The backhasa 180 on it, but I thought the 929 took a 190. I just ordered tires and I told the dealer to get stock size tires.I think they ordered a 190 for the rear.

Did tat half-*** previous owner just throw on what he could get cheap or was is supposed to be a 180 originally? Thanks, Phillip

 

929s came stock with 120 front 190 rear. The reason peeps put 180's on the back is for one, they are cheaper than the 190 series. Second, the turn in of the 180 is quicker having less tread to flick over past the crown.

 

So doesn't itthrow offthe shape of the tire to put a 180 on a wheel madefor a 190?

 

Nope .. all is good. The rim will take a variety of tires, and 180 are pretty common, especially for tear-offs. If I was going to race or track a 929, then it would get 180s, rather than 190s. For the road, 190s are the go (more stable, slight slower, better balance).
