Default What tail fairings fit a 98 CBR 900?

So I'm making a lot of headway on my 98 CBR Streetfighter project.

I re did lots of wiring and I have it sent to a shop to finalize and clean it up to make it ready for the road.

I don't have any fairings on the bike other than the rear tail. One side is good, the other is damaged. Personally I'm not a fan of how fat and wide it is.

Is it possible to mount the 954rr rear fairing and tailight? Anything that I could potentially bolt on?

I wouldn't mind the subframe showing as long as the lines of the bike look fine.

I really love the 954 tail...hell I would love to own a 954, but this was a budget project and I'm pretty much there!

So no one has successfully been able to bolt on a different tail fairing/light?

i would say " ya, probably Not!!!!"
i dont think honda would use the same bolt pattern, just for the fact that i think they like selling new bikes...
but if you bought any tail section intended for any other bike other than the nine and have some imagination and a little bit of fabrication skills, you should easily be able to figure it out... and even someone with no skills could easily imagine where the brackets should go.. and plus theres dozens of threads on changing tails sections..here and scattered through the web..
personally i love my bikes design (900)...**** im even thinking of making bigger just for that fact, everyone either deletes it (street fighter) or goes with a gixer tail..
when searching through the theads you should check out the other 900 theads including 929,954's.. i actually came accross a thread where a guy lobed off the back tail frame and had the gixer frame welded straight on.. i think that was the easest way for bolts to line straight up.. anyway, just my random thoughts...

I ran across a 954 subframe...He doesn't have the tail fairings...but i'm going to look into what it would take to bolt it up.

That's a pretty good idea! If I can ****** the subframe for cheap I'm sure I could experiment with the community!

Hey:

Yes a 93-2000 CBR1000F rear tail will bolt on with the 93-2000 tail light and makes a good upgrade for your bike eliminating the cylon rear tail.

900RR, 600/1000RR and RC51 tails have been grafted on both the bikes but most do not look as good to me IMHO as the newer cane tails do on this bike.

You should ask this in the 1000F portion of the forum....

OP look on the web they have a few pics of newer 929/954, and newer rears on the 900RR, look for custom tail on a 900RR.

Hey:

You have to cut the front attachments off the 929/954 or 600/1000RR and graft on the 900RR front mounting points is the way many use to do this. Welding a square tubing joint reinforcement over it all.

As for the 900rr goes being interchangeable with minor or no mod at all, it is 93-99. Trying to convert a 954 tail onto a 900rr simply won't work. You can make it happen if you insist but these bike are designed using weight centralize concept with engine size. Making changes, you will change the bike's handling....safety over cosmetic first.
