vOLATGE PROBLEMS
So I have a 99 900rr. I go through batteries like crazy. 3 last season, and on my second one this so far this year. I use to buy those cheap walmart ones and the end of last season got a sears die hard one for just a couple dollars more. Way better than walmart. So heres my question. I was testing out with a meter the voltage at the battery to see after my newest battery died one day. I read in the honda service manual that at 5,000 rpm I should be getting like 15volts at the battery.
Is this so???????? So when my bike never showed more than 12.5 I took out my RICKS r/r bought on Ebay and put in my old honda oem one and checked again. 12.3 was the total. I replaced the stator last year and the r/r oho and by the way the stator is also a ricks brand bought on ebay, any way the other part of this story is last year I had one of the common electrical burn ups that seem to be so common. I have replaced the plug from the stator to the bike with soldiered connections to the rectifier. My question's are this
1. should I be reading more voltage at the battery at 5'000rpm
2. Do the three yellow wires from the stator carry different voltage and have specific spots on the regulator? my understanding was no. Am I wrong?
3.Has any one moved the location of their r/r back farther back down the tail where it has a open space behind it and just touches the tail at the mounting spots? Would this move keep the r/r and battery from getting so hot
???? Thanks for any help given.

I agree with CBRNoobie unless you have an alarm. If you do, check that first. I was going through a lot of batt's at one point in time and it was due to a faulty alarm. it worked, but when it wasn't armed it was still pulling juice.. i removed it and never had a problem again.
Do you have any extra lights or add-on's that require power (hid's, neon tubes)? I've seen people use a lot of lights and hid's which killed the stator.

thanks for the feed back. I have one hid bulb in. I will pull it and replace it.
If you missed my post I already replaced both stator and rectifier. I still am wondering if any one has ever relocated the r/r farther down the frame where it does not have anything behind it but air.
