Which tires?
They dont exist. Long lasting tires sacrifice grip. Plain and simple. You need to decide how much of each you are willing to sacrifice. Pilot Powers have good grip and will last probably an average amount of miles. BT-20's are a sport touring tire and will last longer, but sacrifice grip. Qualifiers wont last as long as you want. I've had them on my 900RR and my GSX-R1000 and they chew through them but grip awsome. Diablo's seem to last quite a while and grip OK. Not as good as the PP's or the Q's but last longer. It's kind of a sacrifice, decide how much of each you need in your riding.
I havent had the PP's on any of my bikes, just rode my neighbors R1 with them and they handle nice. He hauls *** on them so I can only imagine they stick pretty good. The Q's stick great. On a cold day with cold tires they will let go, but most will. I like the Q's grip, but they do wear faster than the 208's.
i preach the praises of PP(power pilots), but the only other ones i could compare to was a worn out dunlap that didn't grip at all. but other bikes i've ridden i love the feel of that particular tire. it does last long if you conserve your tire. but if your worried about grip i would go with the stickest grip you can get and just eat the high tire costs of grip. decisions decisions
Best grip possible for the street? Or street/track? Just track? The M3's are supposed to be pretty good, but if they are like the M1's I dont care for them. My brother had M1's on his CBR1000F and it would spin those bastards all to easily at the track. The front always felt planted, but the rear would step out most any time you wanted. He called Metzler and they told him maybe that tire wasnt designed for track days with a bike that heavy and that much power. Well, it doesnt make THAT much power so what the hell were they made for? Surely street riding they were always fine. Just my experience with the M series. I have a hard time coming up with a better tire than the Diablo Corsa. More track oriented than street so it doesnt last long but grips like all hell on the track.
