Default rear shock

whats happening? i appreciate the past help but i'm calling on ya'll once again. i need to replace my rear shock my mechanic said i should check into updating to a newer one( '96 cbr 900 rr) of a 929 or a 954.
is this possible?
can't wait to hear all the good replies!

Not a bad idea, but unlikely it will be a direct bolt on. If you can fabricate you can do anything. Why not just go with an Ohlins or Penske? They are spendy but they bolt right on. Perhaps one off a 98-99 would be an upgrade and possibly bolt right on. (I dont know for sure) Even with a 929 shock it wont necessarily be any better. They are valved and sprung for THAT bike and it's geometry and weight. Not the same as yours. I'd opt to look for a used Ohlins or just revalve and respring your current shock with a progressive spring and some new valving? Cheaper than an Ohlins.
