Default Swingarm sliders

ok got some swingarm sliders for christmas-
was wondring is there actually a place to mount these on a 1999 CB900RR?
i looked and couldnt find anything?
im debating on just drilling a hole into the swingarm and tapping the hole and just bolting the things on?
is that a good or bad idea? lol?

I haven't seen one myself. The sliders didn't come with a installation manual?

no they didnt come with any instruction- they re from lightning performance products-
they have a phoe number but their website is in the making-

would drilling some small holes drastically effect the integrity of the swingarm?

LOL even products from China these days have some Mandarin manual.

I agree with your concern so just be sure before you stab any holes into it.

I wouldn't drill any holes in the bike.

Take it to a shop and have a mechanic look at it, see where it can be mounted safely.

there is no location on the stock swingarm to mount sliders. What I did was weld a nut into each end of the rear axle, and I thread my spools into them. You can do this because the axle is obviously hollow and as long as you use a TIG welder and are careful you will not disturb the threads that the axle nut goes onto. Honestly though, I have never seen the real need for these spools, because if you go down your going to destroy so much stuff (tail, muffler, pegs) that it seems pointless to try and protect the swingarm. Out of all the parts that would be damaged the swingarm would be the cheapest to replace. They look cool, but I would definetely NOT tap the swingarm simply to accomodate them. There is one other way that I considered doing my install. Take a threaded rod from the hardware store and cut it about and inch short of the overall length of the axle. Then thread one of those threaded rod joiners (basically a long threaded nut) onto both ends of the rod and then thread your spools into that nut. If you meaured correctly the tension caused by tightening down your spools wiill tighten the whole setup, and you will be able to remove it all easily to take the wheel on and off. Also, you could just take a tube with a close ID and tap that to accept a similar bolt to the one that came with your kit. You'll have to play around with either of these ideas if you can't weld. Good luck, hope one of the above works for you.
