Default Custom swingarm frame sliders for the F3

yeah i know its unorthodox but it actually worked out. I believe the swingarm position is an ideal place for a slider. I wanted to protect my legs and feet while providing extra cover for the some of the fairings and especially the rear. It was short so I made an adapter to extend the slider. Its not much but what do you think? Should I take em off?

The installation is nice, clean and quality work. For me though, it's too close for comfort for my feet. I don't want anything that close that might interfere with my ability to operate the brake, and or shifter. I originally didn't want to put them on our bikes. Then my wifes bike got dropped in a parking lot. It's amazing how much damage can happen. Sliders are a good thing, but I think that a little on the overkill side.

IMO

those look like some clean welds you have there.
A little walkthrough would be nice too.
Do they sit alright with the fairs??

guys i was just out and the sliders saved my ***! first drop on my cbr. I had zero fairing damage! Doing a left turn but I let go of clutch too fast ( I should have started in 1st not 2nd) and it engine brakes on me. me being 120 pounds couldnt quite stop it from going down. the sliders worked though so im stoked.

The sliders do not inhibit braking or shifting. Very good clearance. Thats not the problem, the real issue is if I accidentally mistake the slider for my brakes! haha I was real worried about that but it is way too high and if you somehow put your foot on the slider it feels very very awkward. Unless your drunk you will know that the brakes are not that high and it is quite too high to make that mistake.

What I would do first is to take a cylinder and stick it in the swingarm outer whole and see how it feels. I was hella worried about it being too close to my shifter and brakes but it works well. and importantly, it works as a frame slider!

the foot pegs will do chit in a lowside as they can retract. I lengthened the sliders with the extension to where the foot pegs normally reach out.

Oh it is not a weld. Here is what I did:

The swingarm bolt is crazy to take out. But it is a hollow bolt so you can stick stuff in the bolt. I measured the swingarm bolt's length and cut a smaller bolt to go through the swingarm. Then I got an aluminum bar and machined an adapter for my sliders to fit the out whole in the swingarm snugly and also to fit the slider itself.

My father is an aircraft engineer so he drew and designed the adapter for me. He also helped me machine it. I guess the hard part is machining the part and designing the adapter.

There is no need to weld it because the bolt I made goes right through the slider and then the adapter and then the swingarm bolt for a nice fit. Also the adapter was made to fit snugly in the swingarm frame whole so it will not move either way. It is like a cap.

I will take it out and post pics. I think you will get a better idea

See there.... I told you your father was a smart man .

As for dropping it, don't sweat it. Everyone does it. I'm glad it worked out for you. Does the bolt that holds the slider in place go all the way through to the other side of the bike to hold the frame slider on the opposite side of the bike, or are there bolts, one one the left and one on the right ?

Yes pictures of the parts off the bike would help I'm sure.

hey thanks idodirt it was a humbling moment, now I am more careful.

the bolt that holds the slider goes all the way through. On each end of the bolt, there are teeth/thread for the nut. Most likely if you try this you will have to make the teeth/thread yourself by using a thread maker.

lol i will update asap
