Default Speedo Not Speedo-ing

In the middle of a ride, my speedometer stopped. Now it just sits facing south, all lonely and uninformative. I disconnected both ends and re-inserted them, but still nothing. In lieu of taking off the front wheel to check the hub gear, I'd like to ask anyone with a 93-94 hub/cable hookup that's had this happen before, for some input. Muchisimos gracias.

I had it happen to me on another bike. The cable snapped inside. Pull the speedo cable off and tug at one end or the other, or try to spin one end while looking at the other. If you spin one and the other sits there then your cable snapped.

SpiritRR,

Yea been there !!!!! Hate when ****happens for sure. Me I am a little lazy at times so before I would take off both ends of the cable. I would remove it from the hub at the wheel then hook up your cordless drill have someone watch the speedo and hit the drill if you have speed being indicated.... You know where you will be heading.

That's a pretty good idea as well.

Mine broke the other day too Spirit It was the male end of the hub that broke. The part that mates to the slot in the cable on the wheel side. I slapped the brokenhub back in the bike and put my speedo cable in my toolbox. Gonna be shoppin ebay for a new hub.
