You bought a 954rr. They called the (00 01) 929rr and the (02 03) 954rr, 900s. It didn't change until the 1000rr came in 2004.

Thanks, 74demon... Now my next question would be... Is there an engine difference in the 900rr and the 929rr and the 954rr? or is the difference in name only? Thanks for the schooling...

Huge differences over the 900rr, and a few from the 929rr.
Other than displacement, the 929 and 954 is fuel injected with the 954 having improvements over the 929.

The entire bike is different than a 900. Honda took steps in developing the 1000rr for 04. The 929 was the first step in design, then more steps to the 954, and finally tweaked into the 1000rr.

Don't feel bad about being confused. I was at the parts dept at Honda the other day, and the guy behind the counter didn't know either. After 20 minutes, he tried to tell me that Honda didn't make a 929. I got behind the counter and pulled it up for him. Then I left...

Thanks again for the clarification... I hoped that it was something like that... World of relief to hear that it is also confusing to Honda parts reps... Not so much of a relief that a Honda parts rep didn't have a clue... I'll have to keep an eye on them when getting parts... lol...

I find when dealing with getting parts, from our local dealer anyway, it's best to look up the factory number ahead of time. That way I can either verify that it's correct, or I can just order by number to get the correct part the first time. They alway get it wrong if I leave it to them. For some reason they get lost when dealing with the listings on my bike.

I learned my lesson when ordering parts for my Raptor 700r... I explained to the guy what I needed... and he seemed to be knowledgeable... But when I showed up to collect my parts, only half of what I needed was there... I should of known cause I was thinking that I was getting a smoking deal... It turned out that it wasn't the deal that was smoking... lol...

If the 929 is 929 ccs and the 954 is 954 ccs which they are according to wikepedia, why isn't my bike called the 919? It has a 900rr decal on the tail and the others have their actual ccs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
