So my "99" bike is kind of a conglomination...
So I bought what was, by VIN and engine size stamp a 99 model, it had no fairings on it but they came with it. I got a great deal ($500) so I didn't really care. The guy selling it was kind of a hick and clearly not the brightest. It also came with a separate wiring harness and gauge cluster. The harness on it is clearly from an older bike, and the problem is the cluster ziptied to it doesn't work, and the proper cluster that bolts right up of course has a different connector.
I'm not a fan of electrical work so this is kind of frustrating.
The cluster on it I think might be from a really early model as it has a round analog temp gauge, whereas the other one that is right for the year has a digital screen for that info.
Just my rant for the day. I don't know why people do this stupid chit to bikes. Now I need to find the wiring layout for multiple year bikes and splice a metric ton of wiring with differnt colors and try not to make a complete mess of it.

purchase the correct wiring harness. I've put together several bikes over the years and one thing I've found the hard way is that wiring should never be the part that you skimp on or cut corners with. It's just as important as correct bearings and spacers for wheels/forks/swingarms!!
