Default RRV rear brake braket

The hole that the brake mounting pin (the pin is on the calliper) on my rear brake bracket is worn, hence the calliper has a lot of movement in it if you grab hold of the calliper you can clatter it about, I was going to get a replacement from eBay but there is a good chance it will be as bad, I think the issue is caused by a mixture of corrosion of the alloy and mechanical wear from the pin, does anyone have a known good one I could buy?, maybe from a low mileage bike?, thanks Mark

PS another option would be to have a bush fitted but that’s a lot of messing about if there’s a good one out there!

For me, I don't think that I'd be all that concerned. Given that the rear break only amounts to 15 to 20% of your stopping power I think it would have to look like it's about to snap right off before I looked at replacing it. To minimize additional wear, I'd be inclined to ensure that all the pistons and seals were in good shape. Replace seals, clean the pistons (replace any that are worn) and flush the fluid. So long as the pistons are working properly, I'd be fine with it.

hi ID, I have fitted a new piston/pads/brake line, I tend to agree with your post in general but the play really is excessive, when I push the bike down my driveway I can hear the pads contacting the disc, not because the piston isn’t retracting but because the amount of free play at the hole/pin is allowing the calliper to **** at an angle, if I feel the calliper after a few miles of riding it’s not warm so it’s not causing it to drag badly on the disc but I think I should sort it really, I shimmed it yesterday by wrapping I thin sheet of alloy around the pin, it’s reduced the play a bit but the hole has worn conically, it’s bigger at the bottom of the hole, so maybe I’ll get a bush made, drill the brkt and fit the bush.

took a pot shot and got a second hand bracket on eBay for £15, sorted, I can now rotate the calliper from side to side about 3mm, with the old bracket it moved about 8mm, shame it’s snowing 🙄

Glad that worked, yes indeed 8mm seems a little 'sloppy' as you said.
The snow was a bit of a surprise today
