does anyone know aprox how many rpm should my bike idle at? right now it's between 1200-1500 rpm's.
i had to change the idle to compensate for the regulator being bad and bike stalling out. i have fixed the problem and would like to make sure that the idle is where it should be.

 

Clymer says 1100 +- 100 rpms, or 1200 +- 100 for California models

 

Yeah, my puppy idles at 1100rpm-1200rpm. Having it at 1000rpm is too low, and she starts to "chug" a little.

 

Iidlemine to between 1500-1800 when warmed up. I can set the idle screw lower but I think since I've got the fuel pump out & just gravity feed that's why it chugs a little below 1500,I plan on getting a new fuel cut relay and hooking all that back up soon.

 

My 900 idles @ 1000 rpm ... I though that was low because some times it chugs like a **** star and stalls out ... What do I need to make this problem dissappear ... I'm trying to work all the kinks out of my bike before winter arrives ... But that's what happens after you are the 2nd owner and the dude before you beat his bike up ...

 

I set mine at 1,200.

 

You've gotta adjust the idle screw while it's running & warmed up, turn it until it idle's up a bit
