I have a 88 cbr600f and it idles at 1100-1200. I think I read somewhere that mine is supposed to be at 1100 +/- 100rpm at idle.

cool thanks, i thought that 1500 might be a little high. it smells rich too so i think the choke might be stuck on or needs adjustment.

yeah if i leave my choke on a little it will idle a little high. there should be an adjustment **** on the left side of your bike to adjust the idle, make sure the engine is warm before you adjust it and make small adjustments at a time while reving the motor a bit between adjustments.

Sorry to not get back sooner. Had to go into work for a bit. It is for the idle. Do you know if the carbs have ever been cleaned? If they have not been cleaned for a while it would be a good idea to do that. There is a good tutorial on this forum but I'm not sure where it went I'll help you find it if you would like.

so i found out why it idles so high. it was set that way because it bogs if the idle is any lower...looks like the carbs might be due for a cleaning

how is your carb adventure going? Here is a tutorial on cleaning https://cbrforum.com/forum/showthrea...=carb+tutorial hope it helps if you have not already found one. I'm sure that it is not much different than the other carb work that you have done.
Good luck,
David
